Adorable hand print ornament that will be able to be proudly displayed year after year!
[attachment=45]
Materials:
1 plain red or green Christmas ball ornament (about the size of a tennis ball)
white, black, and orange acrylic paint
paper plate
1 small paint brush for painting on ornament
a child and his/her hand for printing
1 piece white ribbon about 6 inches long
Step 1:
Take the white ribbon and thread the top of the ornament with it, make a knot with the 2 end pieces. This will be to hang the ornament. Then, put a dime size amount of white paint on a paper plate and spread around. Dip the child's hand onto the paint and rub around to cover his/her hand in paint.
Step 2:
Have the child place their hand on the bottom of the ornament and grip (very lightly so it does not break!) the ornament as if it were a baseball. Make sure that the paint is fully transferred onto the ornament so that it makes a hand print.
Step 3:
Remove child's hand, wash the hand off. Put small drops of black and orange paint, or any other colors you desire onto paper plate.
Step 4:
Have child (or if too young, then you) paint a hat on the fingertips of the hand print, a scarf around the bottom of the fingertip, a face, and arms.
You are all set! Hang the ornament somewhere safe and wait for it to dry!
*Optional extra:
Taking a small piece of red or green paper, write out the phrase:
"These aren't just five snowmen
As anyone can see.
I made them with my hand
Which is a part of me.
Now each year when you trim the tree
You'll look back and recall
Christmas 2009
When my hand was just this small!"
