We have a fabulous farmers market about 5 miles away from us that sells the freshest, most delicious coconuts you could ever dream of! We go through so many coconuts and the shells are just so pretty that we started saving them for crafts. Seeing as though we live in Florida, its only natural that I would use all of the natural resources around me and just add my favorite product ever created- a (tea light) candle!!

Materials:
Half of coconut shell, dried out and scraped of any remaining coconut
1 1/2 - 2 cups beach sand (or you can purchase some at the Dollar Tree for $1.00)
A few small shells
Raffia ribbon (found at most craft stores)
glue gun and hot glue sticks
Varnish
Tea light candle

Step 1:
Taking the half of coconut, peel off the long, stringy pieces around the outside of the shell. I just pull off the long pieces, leave the short ones, and used an old woman's shaving razor and went with the grain as I shaved my coconut.

Step 2:
Spray varnish on the inside and outside of the prepped coconut. While allowing to dry, plug in the glue gun.

Step 3:
Using the Raffia ribbon, tie a bow along the outside of the coconut shell. Attach a small shell to the center of the bow with the hot glue.

Step 4:
Fill the inside of the coconut about 3/4 of the way up. Place the tea light candle in the center of the sand and add shells around the tea light.

Step 5:
Light your candle, sit back, and dream that you are in the tropics with not a care in the world!

WARNING: The feeling of serenity is intense, so please do not drift off into dreamland with your candle lit!
