DIY Salon Treatments

Although many women like going to the salon, no one likes the bill that usually comes after the best salon treatments. Some women are under the impression that this is the only way to look fabulous. However, keeping your skin soft, your hands pretty, and your hair gorgeous does not have to come with a heavy price tag. Do-it-yourself home salon treatments are easy and inexpensive.

Manicures and Pedicures

With a small selection of nail polish colors, a few nail art tools, ordinary kitchen olive oil and a bit of practice, you can have salon-worthy nails in no time. Use a warm olive oil soak to moisturize your hands and cuticles, and wash it off with a mild soap. Use an orangewood stick to push back your cuticles, and then polish your nails. If you do not think that you will be able to paint the nails on your dominant hand, ask a friend to help, and make it a girl’s day spa session.

For your feet, you can make an exfoliating scrub by mixing salt or sugar with some olive oil to make a paste. Scrub your feet with the mixture, rinse them well, and then tackle your ragged heels with a pumice stone. You can massage your feet with a little more olive oil to soften them when your pedicure is done.

Like manicures and pedicures, it is easy to do a facial at home with a few easy-to-find ingredients. Use your olive oil-sugar exfoliant on your face, and then set a steaming hot washcloth on your face to open your pores. Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice, two tablespoons of honey, and two tablespoons of yogurt. Apply to your face, and let it set for about 20 minutes. Then rinse with plain water. This facial routine will leave your skin glowing.

Hair Treatment

Many women like to do their own hair at home using a coconut oil or olive oil treatment. Simply work one of the oils into your hair, and allow it to soak for 30 minutes. Top your head with a shower cap, and apply heat by way of your hair dryer. Then, shampoo as normal. It is easy to achieve salon-worthy shine and texture by doing this type of treatment at home.

It may take a little while to get used to doing salon treatments at home, but it is definitely worth your time. Who doesn’t want to get salon-worthy results for a fraction of the price? The next time you need a manicure, pedicure or facial, try it at home, and see if the results are as amazing as if you had gone to a salon.
