Hi all,

thanks for all the blogs.... i am going through hell also with this prednisone. i have a square shaped bloated torso, my thighs seem to have gotten fatter, huge HUGE moonface with double chin, fat neck which i refer to as "mafia guy neck" and bad anxiety. i am afraid that i will have this permanent fat distribution even when im off of the drug. I have been on it for 2 months now ..first at 100, 50, then 40 mg. is this considered long term? will this go away?

Thank you for your post. Looks like I´m not only one in this hell.
Yep, I have it all:
* Moon face
* facial hair.. in fact I´m hairier than ever exept that my hair is extremely thin and dead-looking!
* weight gain (2 kilos more every month, I wonder when it is going to stop. or is it)
* acne and other problems with my skin
* extremely dry skin (what a combo with acne which I never had as a teenager!)
* very bad tooth ache whenever I eat something cold
* I see worse than I used to
* huge appetite
* Irregular period
* sexual.. problems.. I just don´t want to.
* constant tiredness
* I blush very easily (or is it beaucause my skin is thinner nowadays?)
* constant sweating
* mood swings
* depression

I have been taking Prednisone (mostly 80-40mg/day) for two years now and every time I try to take a smaller amount, all symptoms of my rare auto-immune disease come back. Now it looks like Prednisone is the only med that helps me, it kind of takes off the effectiveness of the other 8-10 drugs I use daily.

So, I´m not alone, you are not alone. Hope you are feeling better, no one deserves this kind of "anti-life".

The social security system is so frustrating. I am 38 yrs old, and when I was only 32 I was walking in front of my house,just taken my kids to the bus stop, when an SUV going about 45 mph came down my private dirt drive and hit me. I suffered many injuries including a closed head, spinal cord, lower back, I have no feeling in the lower half of my legs causing drop ft, along with many other issues. I loved my job, and was even going back to school to get my masters, which to me shows I NEVER intended to be in my 30's and appling for SSD. I have worked since I was 14, went into the service at 17, I am not looking for a "handout" I honestly cannot work, but have been denied 3 times and on my last denial the judge said that he believed everything but didn't think I was in as much pain as I claim-who can tell you how you feel?? I take very strong pain meds everyday and have for 5+ yrs now, why would I have these if I wasn't in pain?? My biggest issue they say, is my age and education, he even told me if I was a HS dropout I would have it. My brother, who was shot in the head during a break in, waited @ 5 yrs to be approved also. What is wrong with this system, that they will allow you to go into debt because your waiting so long??

I was looking for information on brain fog, and stumbled upon your blog. Thank you so much for putting into words what I can't at the moment. I just received my diagnosis yesterday after years of tests, and due to severe migraines they said I can expect the fog.

Thank you truly for helping give light to those just thrown into the path.

WowEow, I have it easy compared to your battles with the pred So sorry to read this. I've been taking 40mg/day for about a month now for ulcerative colitis. My uc has been getting worse and the meds I used to take to maintain remission aren't working anymore so I've been off and on pred like 4 times in the last year going up the ladder of meds to see what works... Moon face. Elevated heart rate- I can be completely still and feel my heart beating harder than normal or the same when I wake up in the morning. Sleeping has been difficult too. My mental health is definitley being effected- I find myself enraged over meaningless things. I also make weird noises and then wonder why I just did that. I mean I've always condsidered myself a little weird, but I think I'm starting to weird myself out. Hunger: I can eat a big meal and still feel hungry. Luckily I have the will power to say, no you're NOT hungry, you JUST ate! I think my job keeping my so active helps combat the weight gain. Well enough on how easy I got it compared to you. Thank you for sharing. I hope the best for you and your family.

no good answer here... prednisone is from hell. been on it since october for ITP. we're using it to try to get my platelets up. prednisone has made me round, evil, rude, and impatient. you're not alone. sorry to you and positive vibes that you'll soon get back on top of things, including prednisone.
