Dear Body,

It seems as if we’ve been at war for far too long.  In August it will be 11 years of battle and I think its time we call it a truce.  I’m really easy to get along with when not backed into a corner and forced to fight for my life, and I’m hoping that you will give me the opportunity to show you that we can be friends.

Throughout the past 11 years I have gone about my business and lived my life and no matter how many times you tried to stop me, you were unsuccessful.  Don’t get me wrong, you have made it very hard for me to accomplish my goals and at times I felt like giving up, but I am a strong woman and I refuse to let you win.  I will always come out on top in the end, and it is time that you accept the facts and throw in the towel on this useless war.

You don’t have to admit that you were wrong and I won’t hold any grudges.  You know, we could work together and become friends.  Imagine all that we could accomplish if we worked together.  We could really go places!  If this war continues, however, I must warn you, the big guns are out and you will be sorry.  It has been 8 months now on high dosages of steroids and the long term effects of these drugs are horrible.  The choice is yours:  we could call it a truce and work together towards feeling like a healthy 28 year old or we could continue to fight and you and I both will become weaker and weaker by the day.

Please respond ASAP, preferably before my next laboratory blood work in 2 weeks.

Respectfully,

Melissa
